diary 6/5 saturday
it was a long flight. certain things i don't want to forget. no,everything.
joburg has a beautiful huge airport. but you feel that you are in africa.

diary 6/6 sunday
the 2nd day. still sleeping long and taking it at ease looking forward to the things to come. watching SABC. yesterday we went out shoppimg to Spar. nice zulu girls selling us lamb and chicken curry welcoming us to south africa so much.
Bafana Bafana, driving left is going better. look all those vuvuzelas!

diary 6/8 tuesday
yesterday we got up early to buy tickets. anyhow we needed some time to get organised. we had to plan our journey properly and finally decided to travel according to how we wanted and then check the matches on our route. we arrived at the fifa ticketing center rivonia road at 11.30 and had to queue at the very end round the corner. after four hours waiting someone informed us that we had queued for nothing, but that we needed to pick a number. so we did: 669 and 670. unfortunately they had arrived only at number 300. as we were hungry a lot we left for food. we found a nice restaurant serving african food. jollof rice and pap. returning people were saying that they hadn't continued to call out numbers. around six they announced which tickets were left. our favorite nigeria - argentina was still available. around seven we made it inside. and there was a queue again. around 70 people in front of us. at 8.30 we got our very expensive VIP tickets. thats fun to be vip for one afternoon. on our way back home we had some problems with our navigator again, but finally made it to enjoy a nice dinner.

diary 6/15 tuesday
last wednesday we went to durban. it was such a nice trip through the dry zone in free state. it freed my mind. it took us 7 hours to finally arrrive. we passed a fog zone and strong rain.
we met peter's wife who called seedy "jamaican dude". what a house they live, like a dream inmidst nature, wow.
we had a nice red wine together to celebrate our meeting. later we went out eating together with peter's kids at mozambique.
the family left next morning. we went to the beach - a holiday. one day left for bafana.
next day, friday morning we left around five to return to joburg and to arrive punctually for the opening match. the fanzone was crowded and it was hard to get food and drinks. we left at half time to watch it more comfortably. bafana - mexico 1:1
saturday we left quite late, but even made it good to the very city. commissioner, jeppe, bree street came finally to my mind. we found a parking very close to ellis park. what a difference to watch a match life at a stadium. argentina - nigeria 1:0
sunday in pretoria. first at the fanzone algeria - slovenia 0:1. after at loftus versfeld ghana-serbia 1:0 great! a qick dinner at ocean basket seafood platter for 2. back to joburg to make it for germany-australia 4:0.
yesterday we went to bagfactory and met diana, who we at a coffee at market place, a new building. but i recognized my beloved square.

diary 6/20 sunday
last tuesday and wednesday we made it easy, watching the matches at home. in the morning we went to the ticketing center. tuesday for furtile, but on wednesday we could buy tickets for nigeria-south korea june 22 at the blackmarket.
thursday at 7:30 we left to head durban. unfortunately we passed a sad accident not far from joburg. a big truck had gone down with a young man full of blood on his head lying like dead on the street.
we made a rest at a kind of supermarket eating african curries watched by a lot of policemen and women. we arrived at the right time for the second match. italian food for dinner. i got mine for free, because they made a mistake.
next day, friday, really a relaxed day. i was lying in the sun the whole day reading. mh, kind of stupid book, about work, what kind of working type i am, others and how to deal with them to get most efficient results.
in the evening we went to gateway to eat out indian. very very expensive, but delicious. when bying newspapers - sowetan not available here, the sun and the weekly mail&guardian - i saw the blackberry copy of nokia. we decided to make it a present for my birthday. we even made sure that it wouldn't be locked at the mtn shop.
yesterday we visited durban city. first durban art gallery: an exhibition about children living in the street. a young homeless girl was guiding us thru the exhibition. after we pulled money at absa and made a small walk at central park and it's market. such a nice weather here in durban, not cold like in joburg. you can walk with just a shirt.
after we headed for the harbour and made 3 attempts till we finally found the b.a.t.center. chicken liver and spicy wings holland against japan. and a teenie disco. at south beach fanzone we watched our favorite ghana against australia to draw. what a nice place!!

diary 6/26 saturday
have had a nice walk at the beach today. a rough sea and a totally deserted beach. a very humid air, an occupied grey sky.
back to durban last sunday:
we were having breakfast, kind of, salad and fish'n chips when peter called to tell us that they had arrived and were about to go out eating as well.
peter made the cooking so we had a nice dinner.
monday we had a quarrrel, which covered the whole day. it was me who had an emotional outburst actually about nothing important. later seedy said he liked genuine fights not that kind. nevertheless, we went to durban to visit kwa muhle museum, which was about racism in south africa and usa. it took us long time till we finally found it. we watched switzerland losing switzerland against chile 0:1 at south beach. after eating at an indian fast food, nice fish and analysing why it happened to us repeAtedly especially to me becoming aggressive and behaving uncontrolled.
tuesday south beach looked like a stadium. unfortunately south africa couldnt qualify, but won against france 2:1. after we had a salad and made it to durban stadium last minute. that time it was not that easy to find a parking close to the stadium, but we made it into the cardholders only zone anyhow. also nice to walk a litle and approach the white alien slow by slow. wow, what a terrific stadium! everything new, a lot of space. even we were sitting on the top we had a good view and could follow the match easily. a big difference to watching on tv. you see the whole field and you can pick what you want to see. whereas on tv you stick to the camera's takes, sometimes longlasting portraits while the ball is alreAdy somewhere else.
nigeria didnt win, they draw 2:2against south korea. they had a lot of goal chance, but didnt use them. i found them SLACK. at the moment south korea is meeting up with uruguay and the current result is 1-0.
on wednesday we stayed home to prepare for our journey direction port elizabeth approx 1000 km. we got up around 5:30, showering and breakfast. when we arrived at the first gate of zimbali resort, it didnt open and we realised our card had expired by 23rd of june, which was the date we had planned to leave. lisa very open heartedly opened us by following us with her discovery.
eastern cape with its tiny villages i like to see. the dry hilly light brown landscape and the colourful small houses. long way to go crossing mountain by mountain to see a new big countryside is opening up again. at down we felt tired and decided to look for a lodge in east london.
now we are here in setchfield at peter's myoli beach lodge. it's raining and we enjoy to stay at home.
