about > malola
MALOLA was founded in 1984.

During MALOLA's first years they put priority on music and performance, in cooperation with artists like Stefan Schwietert Das Topolinorojekt, Les Reines Prochaines, Regina Florida Schmid, Claude Gaçon, Hans-Ulrich Bäbler, Urs Siegrist and others; Engel haben nie weit, Tempel der Freiheit - Babylon, Die Sekte, Schlotterzirkus. Further they worked on solo projects, i.e. tuckoo baby, strand, pariscope.

1992/93 they transformed their music from analog instruments as guitar, bass and voice into electronical computer animated music. Inspired by African rhythms, which they had encountered during their stay in Paris like Reggae, Dancehall, Raggamuffin, Hip Hop, they produced their first riddims. They started to call their music Sound System and brought out CDs. After their stay in Johannesburg they emphasized their interest in African Music and Culture.

Concerning visual arts they considered the individual's immediate realisation of ideas as significant. Their exhibtion rhizom reflected the paradigm change that opened up and strenghtened in monomotapa. They developed ideas of independence and identity and finally set up the category wall piece.
